Pack 180 goes Scouting for Food
Scouting for Food is a food drive conducted during November. Scouts distribute bags with notes to let their neighbors know about the drive and return a week or two later to pick up the bags full of canned goods, cereal, pasta and other nonperishable items.
Please sign up to pass out bags for Scouting for Food. We’ve created the opportunity to sign up for a street within the Tremont Elementary area to pass out bags and pick up food. There are 100 streets you can sign up to cover. Participating Scouts should cover their own streets and any additional they want to cover.
Open House This Thursday from 5 – 7 p.m.
We will have an open house to provide the bags this Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Matt Billman’s house (2583 Henthorn Rd.). The bags come in bundles of 50. We recommend Scouts take bundles of 50 or ½ bundles of 25. If you have any questions, please reach out to Matt Billman (Mattbillman@gmail.com) or 614-519-6539. Bags will also be available at the Nov. 19 Pack Meeting.
Where Do I Get Fliers?
Download a PDF of the flier, fill in the pickup information and print enough to cover your area (B&W copies are fine).
Where Does The Food Go?
Our sponsor, Riverside United Methodist Church, has designated the food we are collecting will benefit NNEMAP Food Pantry, a cooperative ministry of over 30 churches distributing food and material assistance to residents of the near north side of Columbus. NNEMAP’s clientele consists of families living at or below 200 percent of the federally designated poverty level.
Visit NNEMAP’s website to learn more.
When Is The Food Due?
Due Date to Return Food:
- Dec. 3 Den Meetings: We would like to have all food collected returned by 12/3/18 Den Meetings.
- Dec. 8: Report Den Totals
- January: Celebrate Pack’s efforts and distribute badges for participating Scouts
Thank you all for your efforts benefiting this great cause!
